What is CBS All Access?
CBS All Access is the streaming TV and movie service owned by the CBS television network. It officially launched in 2014 in the U.S. and at first offered subscribers a way to streaming current and classic CBS shows, or shows owned by CBS. It also offered live streaming of most local CBS affiliates, with the exception of a few sports events. CBS later got the rights to stream live NFL football games on its service. In 2017, the service started streaming shows that were exclusively made for the service. In February 2019, CBS announced it had roughly 4 million subscribers for the service in the US, which was ahead of its expectations.

Where is CBS All Access available?
CBS All Access was first launched in the U.S, but in 2018 it launched in Canada. In 2019 it was made available in Australia, in a partnership with the country’s Network 10, and it is called 10 All Access in that market.
What does CBS All Access cost?
CBS All Access has two subscription tiers. One has “limited commercials” placed in the shows and movies. This version costs $5.99 a month, or $59.99 for an annual subscription. There’s a higher-price tier that gets rid of the ads on the on-demand shows and movies. This version costs $9.99 a month, or $99.99 for an annual subscription. Keep in mind that if you sign up for CBS All Access, and then stream the live broadcast from your local CBS affiliate, or from the CBSN news network, you will still see the commercials shown on the live feeds, even if you have signed up for the commercial-free tier.
If you are a first-time user, you can sign up for a free seven-day trial of the limited commercial tier to try it out.
You can upgrade from a monthly subscription to an annual subscription at any time. However, you must pay for the annual tier via the CBS.com website, either on your PC or on your mobile web browser. It cannot be paid for via one of the service’s mobile apps.
There’s also an option to bundle a subscription to the Showtime streaming service with your CBS All Access account. That plan costs $14.99 a month with the CBS All Access limited commercials plan. Also, there’s an $18.99 per month option for the commercials free plan. In order to get that bundle, you will have to create an account on the Showtime web site via a browser. Then you add CBS All Access to that account.
What platforms can I watch CBS All Access?
In addition to watching shows on your web browser, there are CBS All Access mobile apps available for iOS and Android. Apps are also available on Amazon Fire TV sticks, set-top boxes and Fire OS TVs, along with Roku sticks, set-top boxes and TVs. In addition, the service is available on the Apple TV set-top box, Android TV-based set-top boxes and TVs, and it supports the Chromecast dongles and TVs.
CBS All Access apps can also be downloaded for select Samsung and Vizio smart TVs, and its also available for Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony PlayStation 4 game consoles.
Can I download CBS All Access shows for offline viewing?
There’s good news and bad news on that front. The good news is the service does indeed support downloads of some of its shows and movies. The bad news is that this feature is just for subscribers of the more expensive Commercial-Free tier. Also, not all shows and movies on the service currently support downloads. You can download on up to five different mobile devices on one CBS All Access account.
How many devices can I stream on my account at once?
CBS All Access limits concurrent streams on one account to two devices at once.
Does CBS All Access support 4K streaming?
Unfortunately, the service does not yet support streaming at up to 4K resolution. It’s currently limited to just 1080p resolutions on all of its devices.

When a new episode of a CBS show is shown on the network, it will appear on streaming via CBS All Access the next day.
In addition, the service has full seasons of classic shows shown or owned by the network. They include I Love Lucy, the original Twilight Zone, Jericho, Cheers and yes, the first five live-action Star Trek shows, plus the short-lived Saturday morning animated series.

CBS All Access does indeed show a limited number of feature films. While its selection is not even close to what you will find on Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime, you can watch the first five Rocky movies on the service,. You can also watch films like Carrie, The Karate Kid, Jeremy McQuire and more.
